The Number of AIDS Orphans is Rising

According to data released by the United Nations, the number of children orphaned by AIDS in Africa continues to rise. Experts estimate that by the end of the decade more than 18 million children in Africa will be orphaned as a result of AIDS. Adding to the problem is the stigma these children face because their parents died of AIDS. The UN reports that even in places children come for care and support, they are often abused and neglected simply because their parents had HIV and died of AIDS. The AIDS epidemic continues and the results are horrifying.
