South Carolina Has Longest ADAP Waiting List in the Country

Monday April 2, 2007
State run AIDS drug assistance programs makes it possible for people living without insurance or drug coverage to get the medications they need to stay healthy. Unfortunately, flat funding of these drug assistance programs along with a growing number of people needing help, some programs are being pushed to the limit. Their ability to serve everyone is becoming difficult. South Carolina now has the longest drug assistance waiting list in the US. Over 400 people are waiting to get help, a number that will soon hit 600 if experts are right. Read more about this growing crisis in this article from South Georgia HIV/AIDS.
