Kaposi Sarcoma Cases Emerging in Long Term HIV Patients

Doctors in San Francisco have reported 15 cases of Kaposi Sarcoma (KS) among 40 to 50 year old gay men who are long-term HIV patients. All are on some type of HIV medication regimen as well. While these KS cases are not invasive or lethal types they do raise concerns among HIV experts. HIV specialists are not sure what to make of the increrase in KS cases; is it a new problem associated with long term HIV or is it just a coincidence that needs more evaluation?
