New HIV Infections Highest Among Gay Men and African Americans

According to The Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) weekly morbidity and mortality report the majority of new HIV infections are among men who have sex with other men and among African Americans. In fact, according to the latest studies 72% of new infections were among men who have sex with men (MSM). And the study also showed that while African American males make up 12% of the US population, the make up 46% of all new infections. In response to these numbers, the CDC stresses that a re-emphasis on HIV prevention work especial among MSM and African Americans is a must.
