Detroit Woman Claims to Have Intentionally Infected 500 People

By January 15, 2010

UPDATE

The Detroit woman who claims to have infected over 500 men with HIV has now admitted her claims were a hoax designed to raise awareness of HIV. Arrested by Detroit police at the University she attends, she was taken to the Detroit Health Department for an HIV test. While her results are confidential, the woman assures us that she is HIV negative; Detroit Police have confirmed her story and have released her.

ORIGINAL STORY

During an 11-minute online video, a woman thought to be from Detroit admits to intentionally infecting more than 500 people with HIV. The woman, who has yet to be identified, says in the video that she has been "upset" about having to suffer since her diagnosis in the late 1990's. She says she has set out to "destroy the world". While the woman has yet to be positively identified, tips to the Detroit Police Department suggest she is a Detroit resident. If so, and her claims are proven true she could face some real jail time; knowingly infecting someone with HIV is a felony in Michigan.

real cases like these do happen! Even if it scarry to see someone do this like a serial killer.. people should not jump into bed with another person just because the moment!.. protect yourselves there are real people out there that do this. I am one that got infected in 1994, by a woman that did not care and was my fiance! so my ignorance way back then. has me paying for it now!

I hope and pry that this is just a stunt to get the awareness that seems to of got put on the shelf , back into the limelight. Our last World Aids Day seemed to of been lacking in on a day that was meant to really bring the much needed awareness. Is it lack of interest, concern , or just that a new infection, H1N1 , is taking presidence over it. Though there always seems to be the “new disease of the year ” we should not forget those that are still taking lives . We shouldn’t have to have a ” lunatic” bring us back into awareness.

I think there’s a bit of hatred, perhaps dementia, in this protest. It doesn’t strike me as helpful. There are better and less terrifying ways to raise the issue.

Cheers from Namibia!

Its amazing how people have become so careless and ignorant about their lives lately, its not as scary as a women who has unprotected sex with a man, but when she comes to the clinic, all she is worried about is wether she is pregnant or not!!!

Awareness have been provided everywhere in the world I hope, and health ministries are really trying their best, but people are in control of their own lives and futures, they cannot be forced to be careful if they do not want to. That is up to everyone as an individual to be responsible for one self!!!!!

Greetings from Namibia!!!
