Tuberculosis - Potentially More Lethal Than HIV

In some parts of the world, HIV is killing millions. But there is another killer that gets less attention but has the potential to be more lethal than HIV. Tuberculosis, a disease once on the verge of disappearing, is now stronger than ever. People are dying all over the world and to make matters worse there is a new strain of TB that resists the very medications used to treat the infection. Here are the most updated TB statistics.

Failure of HIV Vaccine Could Cause HIV Rates to Climb

Some experts have expressed a fear that the failure of Merck's HIV vaccine may actually increase the HIV rate over the next few years. There has been some evidence that the failed vaccine actually increased the risk of HIV in those people who took the injection. South Africa has issued a warning to vaccine volunteers that their risk of HIV may be greater than before receiving the experimental vaccine.

the immune system is not relevant to TB.
