Bristol-Myers Drug Warning
The Bristol-Myers Squibb drug company has recently issued a warning about two of its drugs. The company suggests that Zerit (d4t) and Videx (ddi) be used with great caution in pregnant women. Their warning comes on the heals of reports that three pregnant women died while taking the two drugs during their pregnancy. The women died of lactic acidosis, a condition already associated with the nucleoside analog drug class, which includes both Zerit and Videx. The FDA has undertaken a review of the two drugs.
