Pfizer Suspends HIV Drug Trial
Drug manufacturer Pfizer has halted drug trials on the promising new HIV drug capravirine. Studies have shown that very high doses of the drug causes an inflammation of blood vessels (vasculitis) in dogs. The FDA is permitting those patients currently in capravirine trials to continue the drug if they are having good viral suppression. Pfizer notes that no human has experience vasculitis resulting from taking capravirine.
