Classification:
Non-Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor (NNRTI)
Form:
- 100mg tablet(white oval)
- 200mg tablet (white oval)
Dosage:
Four 100mg tablets three times per day or two 200mg tablets three times per day.
To improve adherence, some providers are prescribing three 200mg tablets twice per day. However dosed, the total daily dose must be 1200mg.
Instructions:
- May be taken with or without food but taking with food may help reduce nausea.
- Should take 1 hour apart from antacids.
Side Effects to Report to Your Doctor:
- Nausea / vomiting / diarrhea
- Abdominal pain
- Rash
- Elevated liver enzymes
Drug Interactions or Incompatibility:
- Take one hour apart from antacids.
- Dose adjustments may be needed when taking with protease inhibitors. Never change your dosing without your doctor's approval
