| HIV on the Rise The United Nations Reports that HIV is on the rise in some parts of Eastern Europe and Africa. The culprit appears to be an increasing prevalence of unprotected sex, prostitution, and IV drug use. The study reports that there were 3.8 million new HIV cases in sub-Sahara Africa, bringing the total infected to about 25 million.
