Dry mouth can be a mild annoyance or a painful sign of a more serious problem. Dry mouth can be a side effect of certain medications or can be a sign of a more serious problem such as dehydration. Whichever it is, there are steps you can take to ease the symptoms of dry mouth.

How to Ease Dry Mouth

Some simple steps you can take to ease dry mouth include:

  • Rinse your mouth with warm salt water several times throughout the day.

  • Carry hard candy with you at all times and suck on it when dry mouth occurs.

  • Ask your doctor or dietician about prescription mouth rinses that may help ease dry mouth.

Important Information!
If dry mouth occurs in association with vomiting or diarrhea, it could be a sign of dehydration. Contact your doctor immediately.
