Every December 1, the world comes together to recognize the battle being waged against HIV and AIDS. World AIDS Day 2009 continues a tradition that started in 1988. The World Health Organization (WHO) established World AIDS Day to provide governments, national AIDS programs, faith organizations, community groups and individuals an opportunity to raise awareness and focus attention on the global AIDS epidemic.

Here at About.com, we commemorate World AIDS Day each year by providing you with the best resources available to help you stay healthy all year round.
