Tricor (fenofibrate)

Classification:

Cholesterol Lowering Drug

Form:

  • 48mg (yellow) and 145mg (white) tablets

Dosage:

  • The initial dose is 48mg to 145mg daily. The dosage should be adjusted according to patient response to the drug. Maximum dose is 145mg per day.

Instructions:

  • Taken once per day with food

Side Effects to Report to Your Doctor:

  • Increase in liver enzymes
  • diarrhea/nausea/vomiting
  • constipation
  • flu-like symptoms
  • dizziness/headache
  • back pain

Drug Interactions or Incompatibility:

  • Use of Mevacor in patients with liver disease is not recommended.
  • Use with caution in conjunction with oral anti-coagulants.
  • Use with caution in pregnant women.
  • Not to be used by nursing mothers.
