Baraclude (entecavir)

What is Baraclude?:
  • Baraclude (entecavir) is a prescription medicine used for chronic infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) in adults where the virus is multiplying and damaging the liver.
Forms:
  • 0.5mg tablet (white tablet)
  • 1.0mg tablet (pink tablet)
  • Liquid oral solution
Dosage:
  • 1 tablet (0.5mg or 1.0mg) once each day or
  • 10ml or 20ml or oral solution once daily
Instructions:
  • Take Baraclude on an empty stomach 2 hours before or 2 hours after a meal.
  • Take Baraclude the same time each day.
  • To be affective, Baraclude must be taken as prescribed without missing doses.
Side Effects:
  • Lactic acidosis characterized by flu like symptoms, muscle aches, fever, malaise, fatigue.
  • Hepatitis b exacerbation can occur if Baraclude is stopped abruptly.
  • Baraclude has been found to contribute to HIV medication resistance.
Special Instructions:
  • Never stop taking Baraclude without first talking to your doctor.
  • Take on an empty stomach 2 hours before or after a meal.
