Cryptococcus

Definition:
An infectious disease seen in HIV-infected patients due to the fungus Cryptococcus neoformans, which is acquired via the respiratory tract. It can spread from the lungs to the brain (cryptococcal meningitis), the central nervous system, the skin, the skeletal system, and the urinary tract.
