Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors (NRTIs)

Form:


Tablet containing 600mg of Ziagen and 300mg of Epivir (orange; modified oval).

Dosage:


Epzicom is taken as one tablet once per day.

Special Precautions:


Warning -
Hypersensitivity reactions have been associated with Ziagen, one of the drugs present in the combination drug Epzicom. Contact you physician immediately if you develop fever, rash, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or other flu-like symptoms.

Other Side Effects to Report to Your Doctor:

  • a generalized "sick feeling"
  • flu-like symptoms
  • nausea / vomiting
  • rash
  • fatigue
  • headache
  • abdominal pain
  • constipation
  • dizziness

Medication Side Effects and Solutions

Instructions:


  • May take with or without food.
  • Never stop and restart Epzicom without first consulting your physician.
  • The individual drugs Ziagen and Epivir should not be taken in combination with Epzicom.
