Medicare (Parts A & B)

Eligibility Requirement:

  • 65 or older
  • kidney failure at any age
  • received Social Security Disability Insurance for 24 months.

Financial Eligibility:

No finacial restrictions

Benefit Amounts:

  • Part A:
    • In-patient care has an $840 deductible.
    • Outpatient care covered at 80% of allowable charges.
    • Home health, hospice, doctor visits, x-rays covered.
    • Prescriptions NOT covered.
  • Part B:
    • Deductible is $100/yr.

    Payment Intervals:

    • ID card is provided.
    • Part A: no cost
    • Part B: $58.70/mos deducted from SSDI.
    • Part B is voluntary.

    Duration of Coverage:

    • As long as Social Security Disability entitlement continues.
    • If SSDI ends because of employment-may continue Medicare for 93 months after the end of the trial work period.

    How to Apply:

    • Automatically enrolled if receiving SSDI.
    • Part B may be refused.
