Hivid (zalcitabine)

Classification:

Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor (NRTI)

Form:

  • 0.75mg tablet

Dosage:

One 0.75mg tablet three times each day.

Instructions:

  • May take with or without food, however taking with food may decrease nausea.
  • Take at same times each day.

Side effects to report to your doctor:

  • Numbness, tingling, or burning of the feet or hands
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea / vomiting
  • Rash
  • Fever
  • Ulcers in the mouth

Drug interactions or incompatibility:

  • Hivid should not be used in regimens containing Videx or Videx EC.
  • Should not take magnesium or aluminum containing antacids when taking Hivid.
