Wellbutrin (Zyban, bupropion) & Wellbutrin XL

Classification:
Monocyclic aminoketone antidepressant

Form:
  • Wellbutrin: 75mg and 100mg tablets
  • Wellbutrin XL: 150mg and 300mg tablets

Dosage:
Wellbutrin
  • If under 18 years of age: DO NOT USE!
  • 18 to 60 years of age: 200 mg in two doses.
  • Over 60 years of age: Lower dosage to start increasing cautiously.

Wellbutrin XL

  • Staring dose of 150mg/day increasing to 300mg/day if needed.

Instructions:
Should be taken on empty stomach with a full glass of water.

Side effects to report to your doctor:
  • agitation
  • insomnia or drowsiness
  • nausea / vomiting /diarrhea
  • dry mouth
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • increased perspiration
  • seizure

Precautions:
  • Do not take this drug if you have a history of seizure, anorexia, or bulimia.
  • Do not drink alcohol with this medication.
  • Do not take if pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant. Do not take if breast feeding.
