Guide Review - And the Band Played On

This made for cable TV movie was adapted from a novel by Randy Shilts whose work documented the growing problem of HIV and AIDS. In 1981, two teams of researchers, one French and one American engage in a hostile race to find a cause and eventually name the HIV virus. "And the band Played On" documents the lives of the unfortunates who have to confront AIDS first hand.. A star studded cast led by such performers as Alan Alda, Matthew Modine, and Lily Tomlin highlight this important film.
