I think we may have a distorted view of God and His love. God does not hate homosexuals. He loves them enough to send His only Son as an atonement sacrifice for them too. He DOES hate homosexuality. Our God is not a humanist, He isn’t an “anything goes, don’t judge” God. Sin is sin and He, being so holy, cannot tolerate sin. And homosexuality is a sin. That’s why He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. By ignorance, I mean not properly understanding how it is physically spread. Some people believe that homosexuality is the main cause of it. This is untrue. While homosexuals have a higher risk of infection, any heterosexual couple that partakes in anal sex has the EXACT SAME RISK, because the blood vessels in the anus are incredibly prone to breaking as it is. I also know for a fact that not EVERY homosexual person will be infected with this disease. It can only occur if one or the other has it in the first place. It does not magically appear when two homosexuals have sex. They ONLY have a higher risk of spreading if one or the other has it. There are ways to protect yourself from this disease. HIV is also spread through needles, but not drug needles alone. While drug needles are a major factor aside from unprotected sex, they are only dangerous if they are REUSED needles. If someone uses a needle also used by someone HIV positive, they have a high chance of catching the virus. But, they have the exact same chance of catching it in a tattoo parlor. Some tattoo artists don’t use a different bottle of ink for each new client, due to the costs of doing so. If any of you are interested in a tattoo, make sure your artist opens each new color IN FRONT OF YOU, and be sure that the needle has never been used on any other person by watching him or her open the package in front of you. And for those of you wondering why we don’t just sterilize the needles, you would have to get the heat high enough to actually melt both the metal and the plastic before it reached a temperature that would kill the virus. Let’s see… Another way to spread the disease is breast milk, from mother to child. Not many people know that. Ladies, if you know you’re HIV positive, and you are pregnant, don’t be scared, just take the necessary precautions to keep your child from getting the virus. Your doctor will help you and give you advice.

Look, for those of you poor souls out there who do have this disease, I don’t pray to any specific deity, nor do I believe in any such thing, but I will put out there the fact that I’m rooting for you and I hope that you can survive through as much as it allows you. To Lossed. I wouldnt worry yet. The chances os catching HIV are still low, even if you have had sex with a partner who has it. It doesnt always result in being positive. It is difficult to catch, that is a fact. I think the chances of a man catching it from an infected woman are 1/50. A woman atching it form an infected guy is approx 1/12 or something like that i may be wrong. So, donmt panic, you have done the right thing by getting a test.

look Ive been diagnosed last monday as hiv+, its kind of hard to take to be honest, yes Im gay and I screwed up, unprotected sex with other men, and the hardest part was telling them that Ive tested positive and to get themselves tested, I felt and still feel somewhat responsible for them! they took it ok though and appreciated my honesty, at the end of the day we are all adults! I have to get another test done tomorrow and a cd4 cell count to see how far along I have gone!! anytime you are not in a long-term monogamous relationship and you have unprotected sex with anyone, be it male or female, you should have a test done. the other option is to just pretend you are invulnerable to all harm and that is not a good plan.
even in a long-term monogamous relationship, the relationship should be more than 6 months in duration while maintaining monogamy before the condom is removed. and the condom should only be removed after BOTH partners have had negative test results. (i put the time requirement in there because i have a couple of friends who believe 2 weeks constitutes a long-term relationship)
as far as infection risks associated with various sexual practices, check out the cdc website. i dont know the numbers, but i do know that oral sex is less likely to transmit hiv than vaginal sex and that vaginal sex is less likely to transmit hiv than anal sex. that being said, all forms of sex carry inherent risk of std transmission.
hiv is transmitted through body fluids, not just blood. and not all strains of hiv require bloodstream contact to transmit. any mucus membrane may be able to transfer the virus from the surface to the bloodstream without any blood being present.
as far as knowingly spreading hiv being the same as murder, there are some states that have laws against this. you are not required to inform your partner of your hiv status, however, if you have unprotected sex with them for the purpose of deliberately infecting them with hiv you can be prosecuted for attempted murder i think. not sure on the statute, but i do know there is one.
to anyone who cares to know anal sex is practiced by approximately 30% of HETEROSEXUAL couples as part of their regular sexual routine. and something like 20% of homosexual couples do not have anal sex at all and instead use other forms of sexual intimacy (i.e. oral sex, mutual masturbation, etc.)

Because you have get with a man does not mean that you can be infected with HIV. The only way you can get infected is if you become sexually active, that mean if you have any kind of sex.
I am a straight, open minded woman. All of these gay bashers need to be shot!! You cannot help who you love!! God has nothing to do with it. HIV can be caught a number of ways, even if you have protected sex and don’t use drugs there are no guarantees that you won’t contract it in other ways. I have a couple of friends whom are HIV positive, both are living healthy happy lives and neither is gay or druggies!!
It really does amaze me how ignorant some people have which is why there is such a stigma attatched to those who have HIV. Hiv is an illness nothing more, we are all created equal, same legs, arms, guts, heads and hands. If you look everyone has the same attributes with the exception of people born deformed or whatever. Some people may look better on the outside but it sure as hell dont mean their insides arent rotting. Disease affects people differently and yes discrimination has caused some virally challenged individuals to go over the edge and commit suicide. It is a horrible disease that takes away energy, self confidence and creates isolation in those it affects. Our homophobic society has made it difficult for HIV positives to live a normal life without discriminatin and a sense of dignity. many people didnt ask for it yet they have it and have to deal with it as well as the attitudes people have towards it. I noticed this when I was diagnosed Aids in 2005 and had to give up a promising career but I worked for 30 years paid taxes and figure all the Homophobes can pay taxes to help support me. I served my country and worked for years but the attitudes I read on hear are just another sign showing how ignorant we in the US are. maybe I am too because I caught HIV but sometimes thats what it takes to develop empathy. The problem is that we all put so much trust in statistics.. statistics are the main cause of descrimination. HIV and AIDS is a diease, and like all diseases it is spread by PEOPLE, not by one specific group of people. but for those that might be confused or do not know. HIV and AIDS are not the same thing. People could live being HIV positive and never get AIDS. HIV is the virus that causes AIDS but if properly maintained with medication and healthy living you could avoid going to the final stage of HIV which would be AIDS.
Also people could live many years with no symptoms of the HIV virus without knowing it if you maintain a healthy environment. So even if you feel that you have not been sexually active or have not had unsafe sex for many years you could still be positive if unsafe sex was practice during years past.
For those that wrote that have just been diagnozed positive, the most important thing is to have a positive outlook in life. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DIE. HIV can be controlled and you can still live an almost normal life. Proper diet, excercise and a healthy attitude will keep you around for many many years. I have friends that are positive that are healtheir than most people after 25+ years of living with HIV. Your goal is always to reach undetectable levels and enjoy life.
It is also a sin to judge others, girls come up to me in bars and i am afraid to get involved a whole lot, and wont do anymore then kiss, i feel that it is a birthright for everyone to be happy, without fear of being judged, hopefully in the upcomeing years they an make great progress with ths ,

Those of you so quick to run from God should know that His power is real. I survived stage 3 cancer because of Him. Ask any doctor worth his salt and they will tell you instantly that miracles happen. And there aren’t any miracles without God. I’m living proof they do happen. Did I get the best treatment science had to offer? You bet. But science said I had zero chance of living. That was 20 years ago. Don’t put your faith in the limited powers of man. If cures are discovered it’s only by God’s will. If you get cured by a “miracle cure” it was still a miracle and only God does miracles. Don’t give up on science. But don’t give up on God either. Some of you obviously have a lot of hate for this world and the God that created it. You have rebelled against Him all your life. It’s likely what got you in the condition you’re in either from shared needles or sex. Sure it’s possible to get HIV by accident. But that’s like saying you can get it from a toilet seat. I am a mother of a son that is HIV pos. I believed God years ago to bring my son out of homosexuality. Is he out of that life style? No. He met a woman and married her. I thought it was God’s answer to all the prayers I prayed for years.His marriage is falling apart. Now I find he is HIV pos. too. I don’t want to face this. I don’t care to live any longer. For all who have got AIDs from someone who had it and didnt tell you, you are able to put him or her behind bars! If you then pass away from the virus that person will then have a murder charge added and the years all ready served will be taken off his or her new charge! I lost my brother who had AIDs and the money from the lawsuit paid my collage and lawschool so I could but people behind bars for acts like this. Putting the person away is one thing, getting money from a lawsuit may not replaced a loved one but if you put it to good use you can help get this epic virus slowed and the wrong people of the street!

I agree with the other comments that we have to stop thinking about HIV/AIDS as a gay disease. If you have sex, even protected, or share needles you can get HIV period. If you engage in these behaviors get tested. I didn’t realise that the life expectancy was so long, I’m glad to hear that this disease is becoming more manageable.

My aunt is dying of aids because her husband of 25 years cheated ~! Crazy enuf I am 25 and have been a hospice worked for 7 years and know all too well the end stage of the viruis ! My aunt was diagnosed when I was 16 and she is starting to go down hill! I am so torn up about it ! My aunt is christian never did drugs and is paying a heavy price for love!
I think what people need to keep in mind is this: Just because *some* people can survive a long time with the virus, with or without meds, does not mean *all* people will survive a long time with the virus. It’s an immune-compromising virus. If you have a lousy immune system to begin with, HIV will kill you a heck of a lot quicker than someone who has a fitter immune system.
Sadly, most HIV transmissions are the result of homosexual transmission between men, simply because of a lack of education and the believe that rubbers are only for stopping babies, not to mention the general greater promiscuity of homosexuals.

I don’t know if am HIV postive or negative. I hasn’t been to the HIV blood test due to it’s isn’t 3months yet.During Aug I had sex with this guy who is married.I know I am a sinner.I had sex with him just for the greed of money.I utterly regret it.Am a sweet and innocent girl I must say.Am not a Sex-trader but during that moment I was temptated by money therefore,without thinking about the consquences I did it.It was my first time too!
At the meantime I had a lovely bf of my own and we had being together for 3years plus.After the intercourse we keep in touch.Two weeks after tyhe intercourse out of nowhere,I called him and asked him this qns *Do you have HIV/AIDS?* he answer me back in a tone *CRAZY!ah you!?*. I felt relief at the moment but recently around oct last week friday.I tried contacting him.His phone is off!!! Till now alomost a week.
Therefore,I think there is higher chances that I will get AIDS/HIV.I always wanted to have a family of my own.But dreams just seems dashed/Crashed. I blame no one but me! My stupidity! I feel guilty and bad facing my boyfriend. as we had unprotected sex intercourse just last sunday.

If it is a crime to not tell someone about your HIV infection as Lawyer above was saying it could potentially lead to a murder charge it should also be a crime for not asking in the same vein as it could potentially lead to suicide. The absolute gospel truth about HIV/AIDS is that 21% of the people infected with HIV don’t even know they have it. That is 1 in 5 !! The rate is nearly 50 % who don’t know they have it in men who have sex with men. These people go on not getting tested because legally its wiser to not know then face sexual restrictions. Without diagnosis there is no treatment and treatment is crucial in stopping the spread of the virus. It is much more likely you would contract HIV from semen in a man who’s viral load is 500,000 + than contracting it from someone who is HIV+ yet who’s viral load is undetectable. Knowing that isn’t it time we eradicate the spread of the disease by implementing mandatory testing. That way people don’t use apathy as a crutch to get away with murder. That 1 in 5 number would disappear and with it those sky high viral loads. Once the amount of ignorant people with huge viral loads goes down the transmission and spread will go down as well. If you haven’t been tested be it out of fear or out of apathy or out of malicious intent you are just as culpable of committing murder as those that don’t disclose their status. And those that don’t ask their sexual partners status are just as culpable in committing suicide. Regardless always ask, use protection and get tested regularly.

hey guys, I read all of your comments and I am very happy every time i read about people living with the vurus for so long…my best friend tested positive 2 days ago…now he needs to go through some other tests to see what is the phase and if he neest serious treatment…doctors said that the first tests are ok and it seems to be some kind of an early phase…I am so afraind of loosing him even after 10 20 years… he is now 29.. when I think about life- a friend of mine died at the age of 27 last year, other in a car crash in the age of 25…life is unpredictable… I hope he will live long and happy but he is afraid of staying alone…I am getting crazy… please drop me a mail with an advice how could I help him believe and enjoy his life the way it is. How to make him face the truth that even without this virus he may die earlier (everything happens) !he needs to believe IN his friends…. in 2010, if you seek treatment for HIV, you could live over 30+ years. Treatment would be some sort of pills you would have to take one time a day. you would have to take the medication to keep the virus undetectable in your system. The bottom line is you have to take care of your health and follow your doctors orders!

Spirituality/faith does help, but Christianity isn’t the only one. I tried the Christian thing when i was young, but no matter how devoted I was, my life was full of misery and pain growing up. Then, I “came home” to Wicca. Ever since then my life has been great. I lean more towards Traditional Witchcraft now, but that doesn’t really matter. What matters is that I know that I have control over my own body and what happens with it. I know that I have to take action and responsibility. I can’t just pray and say “here Jesus, you drive.” I worked a spell when I found out that I was HIV+ over 3 years ago, and to this day I’m undetectable and my CD4 count is nearly normal, and this is with no medication at all. After every test I have my Dr. says he doesn’t know what I’m doing, but to keep it up because my body is doing a remarkable job of keeping the virus in check all on its own. Magick has helped me in SO many ways in my life, yet I’m constantly told my miserable Christians that are sick, in debt, lonesome and just plain looney that I’m going to hell. It’s all very simple to me, just like science. If it works, great! If it doesn’t, then why the hell are you still doing it??? “Oh I’m just being tested” you say. LOL, well, you go on and be “tested” for the rest of your life. See where that gets ya!

Could be because he’s gay but also has been said he got it in the nursing home he worked in while caring for aids patients. I just read the most views and see the irony that people who advocate free speech get angry when sumone tries to explain their views. Sure the views of truthbetold may be harsh but then do you have another solution? People should wake up and realize that what they do has consequences and as harsh as we may see it we are connected to each other and no matter what the media advertises, we are still not free to do as we like. Sure we can have unprotected sex and have a good time and say ‘It’s my life, only I have the right to decide’ but its only a partially correct statement. Whats true is that while we can control our desires and have a choice to do what we wish but the consequences are not in our control most of the time if not always. For eg you have the power to go and kill someone but then you’ll like end in jail.
I am not saying that AIDS is solely spread from immoral behavior but then it surely is a way. Coming back to my being connected point, we have a choice to go to any hair dresser or a clinic but if we are injected with AIDS virus (accidentally of course) then its not our fault and it may not be the other ones fault too as s/he may be unaware of their condition. Do you understand why men are more susceptible to contracting HIV? There is absolutely nothing wrong (unless your guided by organized cults) with loving a person of the same sex. Love is love. Men are more scuseptible because during anal penetration, the skin that lines the anal canal is more at risk for tearing; causing bleeding. I can’t even begin to tell you how many straight couples have unprotected sex. The reason that HIV is likely to be contracted between straight couples is because vaginal fluid and pre-ejaculate fluid have less of a risk of contain the HIV virus. Straight men are at even lower risk than straight woman for contracting HIV.

I’m HIV+ for the past six years. At least I know for the past 6 years, I don’t know how long before I was infected. I only had sex with one man in my life and he was my fiance. It’s so ironic that I’m been taking medication since 22nd March, 2005 and he is HIV+ but still have a high CD4 count aand he’s not on medication. It’s not fair. I was honest and he wasn’t. I want to forgive him because I hope to be healed from HIV and get married and have a family some day. I feel that he had destroyed my life, my hopes and my dreams of being a woman. I’m still trying to get my life in order but I always remember what he had done to me. I feel that I could run away from here and go to another place where no one knows me and change my identity. My life has been wasted!!!
