Mevacor (lovastatin)

Classification:

Cholesterol Lowering Drug

Form:

  • 10mg, 20mg, and 40mg tablets

Dosage:

  • Typically starts at 20mg each day not to exceed 80mg each day.

Instructions:

  • Take with dinner if on a daily dose. Take with breakfast and dinner if taking twice each day.

Side Effects to Report to Your Doctor:

  • constipation
  • diarrhea/nausea/vomiting
  • skin rash
  • gas
  • heartburn
  • dizziness/headache
  • muscle cramps or myalgia (muscle pain)

Drug Interactions or Incompatibility:

  • Use of Mevacor in patients with liver disease is not recommended.
  • Not to be used in pregnant women or those women likely to conceive.
