Zoloft (sertraline)

Drug Class:
Serotonin re-uptake inhibitor antidepressant
Form:
  • 50mg (white in color) capsules
  • 100mg (orange in color) capsules
Usual Dosage:
  • An initial dose of 50mg/day can be increased as indicated but not to exceed 200mg/day
Instructions:
  • Preferred: Administer with food once daily with the evening meal.
  • If administered in the morning, take with food at breakfast.
Side Effects to Report to Your Doctor:
  • sexual dysfunction (ejaculatory delay)
  • insomnia or somnolence (drowsiness)
  • nausea / vomiting /diarrhea
  • dry mouth
  • dizziness
  • tremor
Precautions:
In order to minimize the opportunity for overdosage, prescriptions for sertraline should be written for the smallest quantity of drug consistent with good patient management.
