Crixivan (indinavir)

Crixivan 400mg Tablets

Classification:

Protease Inhibitor (PI)

Form:

  • 100mg capsule (green imprint)
  • 200mg capsule (blue imprint)
  • 333mg capsule (red imprint)
  • 400mg capsule (green imprint)

Dosage:

Two 400mg capsules three times each day.

Instructions:

  • Take on empty stomach 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating (may be taken with a light, low fat snack).
  • Take with at least 1 1/2 liters of water per day.
  • Store in the original stock bottle to prevent moisture damage.

Side effects to report to your doctor:

  • Back or flank pain (symptoms of kidney stones)
  • Blood in urine (symptoms of kidney stones)
  • Nausea / vomiting / diarrhea
  • Abdominal pain

Crixivan is associated with a high incidence of kidney stones. To prevent this complication, drink at least 1 1/2 liters of water each day. Report any back or flank pain, or blood in your urine to your doctor immediately.

Special instructions:

  • Should not be taken with a high fat meal.
  • Crixivan is sensitive to moisture. It should be stored in its original bottle which contains a desiccant (a material that keeps the drug dry).
