 Kaletra (Lopinavir + Norvir)

Kaletra Tablets

Classification:
Protease Inhibitor (PI)
Form:
  • Tablets containing 200mg of Lopinavir and 50mg of Norvir.
Note: Norvir acts as a PI booster.

Dosage:
  • Two tablets twice each day.
  • To improve adherence, Kaletra can be taken as 4 tablets once daily.
Instructions:
  • Kaletra should be taken with food.
  • The tablets do not need to be refrigerated and can be taken with or without food.
Side Effects to Report toYour Physician:

Special Warning
Kaletra can alter the heart rhythm in some people. Notify your HIV specialist if you have a history of heart problems or cardiac disease.

Drug Interactions or Incompatibility:
  • Viagra doses need to be lowered when taking any PI.
  • Do not take St. John's Wort when taking a PI.
  • The individual drug Norvir should not be taken in combination with Kaletra.
  • Should not be used while taking Trazadone
  • Norvir containing meds should not be taken with the medications fluticasone (Flonase) or Advair
